Miles Butteriss: My profile.
I have been interested in photography since the age of about thirteen when I bought a new Zenith from my mother’s catalogue using my pocket money. I achieved an ‘O’ Level in art, (grade A) but never went to university (something I have lived to regret for the last thirty four years). This yearning was exacerbated when I married a vet. After the birth of our first child (2011) I started an OCA degree in photography. Not long after having started the second module (Context and Narrative), our second child came along. The commitment required by both my wife and I to not only raise a young family, but to run a business left little room for study time. Something had to give…….
Now that the pressures have eased a little, I am able to make the time commitment necessary to do justice to myself and to produce the high standard of work that I know I am capable of.
Seeing letters after my name is definitely not an incentive, I probably won’t add them (Presumptuous, I know!). It is the knowledge to be gained that drives/inspires me. Yet knowing and mixing with so many people that have completed a degree, I would like to be able to say that I too have done so.
